In our previous post we looked at whether or not the coin sap is an effective tool. Whilst it is certainly not for everyone there are some limited use cases where an individual may opt to carry one. For those people I’ll review a few from my collection and share some thoughts.
A conventional design
This Todd Foster coin sap is very ‘sap’ like in design, as is another I have not pictured. Both can be easily carried in the rear pocket and deployed in an identical fashion to a conventional sap. These purses are also relatively easy to actually use for their intended purpose of carrying coins and accessing coins from them is not too difficult.

I do not think this would fool an officer of the law and there is not much plausible deniability with these, even with the decorative strap. Consider the legal implications carefully if you opt to use this kind of style.
Mean Gene
Mene Gene’s coin sap is an example of fantastic design and incorporates into belt carry nicely. It is quite discreet on the belt and at a glance does not present itself as a weapon immediately. Of course this style has been imitated and is now popular enough that many will be ‘in the know’. Deployment of this coin sap is a bit different but the snap and motion to deploy are easy. In my training there can be some snap back from this tool.

One downside to the Mene Gene coin sap is that it is very difficult to use as an actual purse. Getting coins in and out is incredibly finicky. That being said it is a wonderful design and does not raise too many eyebrows when on the belt. It steps into that NPE niche discussed in our previous post
Palm Purse?
This is effectively an actual purse, just a bit smaller than conventional ones. It reminds me of a small coin purse my grandmother actually carried in fact! It has never raised any eyebrows for me and has been genuinely useful. This tool of course does not function like the other saps discussed here. It is more like a fist load or palm sap. It is certainly not as effective as conventional saps but is an interesting design to consider.
